remote depositNeed to deposit a check, but don’t have the time to stop by a branch? Skip the driving, deposit slips, stamps, and envelopes and use Remote Deposit, a new feature in GTNet.

Remote Deposit allows you to scan your checks and receive credit that same day or the following business day. With a computer, internet connection and a common flat bed scanner, you can deposit checks to your credit union account from anywhere -home or work, on the road, and even faraway places. And you pick the time- morning, noon, or even late at night. To access Remote Deposit log into GTNet, or online banking, select Check Services, and click Remote Deposit.

FAQs:

I only have a savings account, can I use Remote Deposit?
No, Remote Deposit is only available to Checking Account holders.

What accounts can I deposit to?
You can deposit to any checking account on which you are a primary or joint owner.

What is the maximum amount I can deposit?
$2,500 as a single check but up to $5,000 per day. Checks over $500 will be reviewed prior to being credited to the account.

How many checks can I scan?
10 checks per day.

Do I endorse the back of the check?
Yes. Endorse and put the account number on the back of each check.

Can I scan more than 1 check at a time?
No, only one check, per scan (front and back of check will be scanned).

What is the minimum amount I can deposit?
There is no minimum amount to use the service.

Is there a fee to use Remote Deposit?
There is NO fee to use Remote Deposit.

When is the money I deposit available for my use?
Deposits submitted no later than 4:00pm C.S.T M-F will be available by 5:00 pm C.S.T. on the same day. Deposits submitted after 4:00p.m C.S.T M-F will be available the following business day by 8:00 am C.S.T. All checks are subject to review. A two day hold will be placed on items that are deemed uncollectable.

Will I get an email once the deposit is cleared?
No. If you have a valid email address in GTNet, you will only receive an email if the deposit was rejected. You can also log back into GTNet and review the History Page of Remote Deposit and the reject reason will be listed or to verify the deposit was cleared.

What happens if a check I deposit and receive credit for is returned for insufficient funds?
The amount will be reversed from your account and you will be charged a regular return check fee. See Fee Schedule.

What items can I NOT deposit through Remote Deposit?
1. Any item that is stamped with a “non-negotiable” watermark.
2. Any item that contains evidence of alteration to the information originally contained on the check.
3. Any item issued by a financial institution in a foreign country or not payable in U.S. Dollars.
4. Any item that is “stale dated” or “post dated”.
5. Any third party check, i.e. any item that is made payable to another party and then endorsed to you by such party.

What do I do with the check after I’ve scanned it?
After scanning the check and you verified that a credit is posted to your account, you are to secure the check in a safe place for 30 days. After 30 days you should properly destroy the check, i.e. shred.

How long will copies of receipts and check images stay in the History?
The images of the receipt and check will stay online for 90 days. After that, you will need to contact the credit union for a copy. GTFCU will only hold the copy for up to 7 years.

What do I do if I find an error in my deposit transaction?
