Aggieland Credit Union Helps Launch RBI Campaign to Benefit the RB Eye Foundation

Bryan-College Station, Texas, Feb. 15, 2024Aggieland Credit Union has thrown its support behind the RB Eye Foundation, a local charity founded by Texas A&M Head Baseball Coach Jim Schlossnagle. The credit union has been named the corporate sponsor of the foundation’s 2024 season.

The RB Eye Foundation raises money to support research organizations involved in finding treatments and a cure for Leber Congenital Amaurosis (LCA), the most common genetic cause of childhood blindness. The foundation also provides support to the Texas A&M Aggie Service Dog and Guide Dog program, which trains dogs to help individuals such as visually impaired children.

Together, Aggieland Credit Union and the RB Eye Foundation are launching the RBI (runs batted in) fundraising campaign to generate money for the charity. To participate, pledges are made based on the number of RBIs the Aggies achieve for the 2024 baseball season. Pledges can be as little as 25 cents per run and will be calculated by the total number of runs during the 55 scheduled games this year. Based on the team’s three-year average of 420 RBIs, a pledge of 25 cents would raise $105 for the RB Eye Foundation.

Anyone can participate in the RBI fundraising campaign. Pledges are made online and will be automatically calculated throughout the season. Participants receive automatic updates of their pledged contribution each month so they can monitor how well the Aggies are performing. The final total determines the individual’s contribution.

“Aggieland Credit Union’s support of the RB Eye Foundation is in the Aggie spirit of helping others,” said Schlossnagle, Founder of the RB Eye Foundation and the team’s head coach.  “Through this campaign we will be able to raise funds to be used to make a real difference in the lives of children who have experienced significant vision issues.”

Aggieland Credit Union and its parent Greater Texas Credit Union will promote the RBI campaign to more than 80,000 members and the community of loyal Aggie fans.
